Bloomfield Burglary Arrests

Arrested were Angelo Gonzales, age 19, from San Juan County and Zachary Davis, age 27, from Bloomfield. They were both charged with Aggravated Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Burglary, Larceny of a Firearm, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of a Firearm, Larceny (over $500 but not more than $2,500), Conspiracy to Commit Larceny, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Criminal Damage to Property (under $1,000). Gonzales was also charged with possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine).

On February 23, 2016 at approximately 12:48 PM, Officers from the Bloomfield Police Department were dispatched to the area of 2100 E. Blanco Blvd. in reference to a Breaking and Entering in progress. Dispatch advised that two males with shaved heads and dark clothes had broken through the front door and were currently inside the residence. Inside the residence, the pair stole numerous items and armed themselves with a number of firearms.

A Bloomfield Police Department Community Service Officer located the suspects on the north side of Blanco Blvd. near Arroyo Ln. He advised the responding Bloomfield Police Officers and San Juan County Sheriff’s Detectives of their location. After a short foot pursuit with the armed pair, officers were able to arrest them without any injuries to officers or suspects. All stolen firearms were recovered.

“This is just another example of outstanding law enforcement by the Bloomfield Police Department and excellent teamwork in San Juan County. Through a continued cooperative partnership among local law enforcement agencies, this situation ended in the best way possible. No one was injured, the firearms were recovered, and the suspects were caught.” Lt. Randon Matthews.

Police ID Suspect and Officers involved in Hines Rd. Shooting

Upon arrival, officers observed a male and female walking who matched the provided descriptions. Officers gave commands for Leon Quintana (27) to place his hands on his head and walk backward toward them. During the encounter, Mr. Quintana hesitated and shifted his movements while officers continued giving commands. He then produced a firearm and fired a shot toward officers, striking an officer’s patrol car. A second shot was also fired.

Racing Commission Approves SunRay Move to Clovis

The move will not affect the 2026 racing season in San Juan County. Live racing is scheduled for April 17 – May 24, 2026. San Juan County has previously said that McGee Park and the San Juan County Fairgrounds would not be impacted by any changes at the casino and horse racing track.
