Bloomfield: Wastewater Emergency

Bloomfield Residents and businesses: please minimize water use until further notice. Postpone laundry and dishwasher use, keep showers brief, and reduce toilet flushing when practical and sanitary. Every reduction helps limit wastewater entering the river.

From the city of Bloomfield, NM

Friday, October 23, 2026:

Flooding has temporarily shut down the City’s Water Reclamation Facility. Wastewater entering the sewer system is currently flowing into the San Juan River without normal treatment. Residents and businesses: please minimize water use until further notice. Postpone laundry and dishwasher use, keep showers brief, and reduce toilet flushing when practical and sanitary. Every reduction helps limit wastewater entering the river.

Please do not travel to flooded areas to watch, take photos, or sightsee. Keep roads and access routes clear so emergency responders and utility crews can reach those who need help. Respect barricades, follow emergency personnel’s instructions, and never drive or walk through floodwater.
