From San Juan County:
Tonight San Juan County commissioners approved a resolution making San Juan County a “Second Amendment Sanctuary County.”
Commissioners approved the resolution set forth by Sheriff Shane Ferrari, resolving to support the sheriff in not enforcing unconstitutional gun laws. Further, the resolution states that county commission will not authorize or appropriate funds, and etc., “for the purpose of enforcing laws that unconstitutionally infringe on the rights of the people to bear arms.”
There was a standing room only crowd, and the audience broke into cheers and applause while the sheriff addressed commissioners.
“What I am doing is saying the second amendment is safe in San Juan County,” said Sheriff Ferrari.
“The purpose is to get the attention of Albuquerque and Santa Fe,” said Sheriff Ferrari, “As Sheriff, I want to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. As Sheriff, I want to keep guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens.”
Commissioners approved the resolution in a 4-1 vote.
