Update: Driver Cited for Street Racing (video)

The driver of the red Toyota Supra, 22-year-old Kalynn Kenworthy, was charged with racing on highways. Kenworthy has an extensive history of traffic violations, including citations for racing in August 2025 and in 2023, as well as more than seven speeding citations within the past four years, each averaging more than 15 mph over the posted speed limit. Additional charges are pending against the driver of the white passenger car.

On Friday, September 26, 2025, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a Farmington Police officer observed two vehicles, a white passenger car and a red Toyota Supra, racing on 20th Street near Knudsen Avenue. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver of the white passenger car fled.

The fleeing vehicle collided with another motorist in front of Smith’s grocery store, veered off the roadway, struck a parked vehicle, and caught fire. Both occupants of the white car, a 27-year-old male driver and a 20-year-old male passenger, were transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Farmington Police remind the community that street racing is dangerous, illegal, and puts lives at risk. Anyone who witnesses reckless or suspicious driving is urged to report it immediately to non-emergency dispatch at (505) 334-6622.

The Farmington Police Department is releasing video from the September 26, 2025 crash involving street racing on 20th Street. This video is being provided to highlight the dangers of reckless and illegal driving that put lives at risk in our community.

The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
