Emergency Drill/Safety Training at SJC This Week

The drill will be safe and controlled. Several Farmington Police Officers and San Juan College Public Safety Officers will be present to oversee the process. Farmington Police Officers will be stationed at various locations on campus. Signs that acknowledge the drill in progress also will be posted around the campus.

From San Juan College:

The San Juan College Department of Public Safety, in partnership with the Farmington Police Department, will conduct an emergency drill and safety training on the main campus, the week of March 14.

            The drill will be safe and controlled. Several Farmington Police Officers and San Juan College Public Safety Officers will be present to oversee the process. Farmington Police Officers will be stationed at various locations on campus. Signs that acknowledge the drill in progress also will be posted around the campus.

            “Maintaining a safe campus is a top priority at San Juan College,” explains Kelly Anderson, director of San Juan College Department of Public Safety. “We need to ensure that San Juan College is prepared for any type of emergency, and part of that preparation comes from conducing safety drills and simulations.”

                Throughout the drill, participants will react accordingly, relying on the training provided by San Juan College Department of Public Safety and the Farmington Police Department. An emergency RAVE alert will not be issued for the simulation.

  • Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

    Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
