Farmington Schools: No Delayed Start

Results from the parent preference survey showed overwhelming support for Early Release Mondays. A total of 4,884 votes were cast with 81% in favor. As such, I have determined that students will be released early on the fourteen Mondays scheduled on the 2016-17 school year calendar. September 12th is scheduled as the first early release Monday. Elementary and high school students will be released at 1:00 PM and middle school students will be released at 1:30 PM.

From Farmington Schools Superintendent Dr. Eugene Schmidt:

Open Letter to the Farmington Community,

Results from the parent preference survey showed overwhelming support for Early Release Mondays. A total of 4,884 votes were cast with 81% in favor. As such, I have determined that students will be released early on the fourteen Mondays scheduled on the 2016-17 school year calendar. September 12th is scheduled as the first early release Monday. Elementary and high school students will be released at 1:00 PM and middle school students will be released at 1:30 PM.

I apologize to those who may have been inconvenienced and I thank you all for your patience during the time it took to finalize this important decision. Do know that the training time we invest in our teachers and leaders will do much to raise the bar on excellence in our classrooms.

Our ultimate goal is for each student to achieve at her/his highest potential.
