Finalists Announced for Bloomfield Superintendent Post

This morning on KSJE, outgoing Bloomfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Kim Mizell names the three finalists that the Bloomfield Board of Education are considering to be the next person to lead the district.

This morning on KSJE, outgoing Bloomfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Kim Mizell names the three finalists that the Bloomfield Board of Education are considering to be the next person to lead the district.

Mizell has announced her retirement plans at the end of the current school year.  Today she listed the three finalists who have applied for her job:

  • Rebecca Bennett: Currently Assistant Superintendent at Central Consolidated Schools
  • James Olivas, Currenly Operations Director of the Bloomfield School District
  • Kevin Summers, Current Aztec Schools Superintendent

Mizell says the board plans to interview the three finalists on March 16, 2024 and make a final decision by the end of the month.

Dr. Kim Mizell has been superintendent of the Bloomfield School District since July of 2015.

  • Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

    Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
