San Juan Regional Medical Center is offering free vaccinations at five different Four Corners locations. The “Fight the Flu” campaign will host clinics in October and November to ensure that as many people as possible are vaccinated.
FARMINGTON, NM (October 8, 2015) – Flu season is here again, and San Juan Regional Medical Center is helping to keep the community healthy by offering free vaccinations at five different Four Corners locations. The “Fight the Flu” campaign will host clinics in October and November to ensure that as many people as possible are vaccinated. Getting a flu shot protects people for up to six months, through the duration of flu season, according to a study presented at the 2015 International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases.
San Juan Regional Medical Center’s free clinics will be available for adults 18 and older, and once again include a drive thru option. Vaccinations are provided on a first come, first served basis until supplies run out. Those attending the drive thru clinic at San Juan Regional Medical Center’s north visitor parking lot should wear short-sleeve shirts and be ready for their vaccine by the time their car reaches the nurse. This will help the process run smoothly and avoid long lines. There will be signs posted to help drivers find the parking lot, located at the corner of Maple Street and Schwartz Avenue.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone six months or older. It’s especially important for high-risk groups including children ages six months through four years; people 50 years or older; people with chronic diseases; and pregnant women.
