Update: Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Farmington police apprehended the suspect in a robbery that took place around 10:40 this morning at the Family Dollar located at 909 E. Farmington Ave. The suspect fired one shot inside the store and left with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during the incident. A person of interest was identified early on in the investigation.

Update from Farmington Police:

Farmington police have charged 30-year-old Cody Dimuccio of Pagosa, Colo. with armed robbery and unlawful taking of a vehicle following two incidents that occurred earlier today. Officers were dispatched around 10:42 a.m. to the Family Dollar located at 909 E. Farmington Ave. in reference to an armed robbery. Through investigation, officers learned that Dimuccio entered the store and waited for customers to leave before taking an undisclosed amount of money and fleeing the scene. While inside the store, Dimuccio fired one shot. No one was injured during the incident. Dimuccio was seen leaving the area in a gold 2005 Chevy Impala. The vehicle was listed as stolen out of Colorado.

 

At approximately 12:05 p.m. today, dispatch received a call from Great Buy Auto Sales located at 942 E. Main St. in reference to a male subject, identified as Dimuccio, who had taken a BMW. The reporting party followed Dimuccio while on the phone with dispatch. Officers located the vehicle heading east on Apache and attempted to make a traffic stop. Dimuccio turned south on Auburn and was driving erratically, ignoring officers’ attempts to stop him. Dimuccio continued traveling south on Auburn, and in the course of the pursuit, an FPD unit collided with the suspect vehicle at Auburn and Maple. Dimuccio was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The officer was not injured. 

 

Dimuccio was transported to Farmington Police Department for questioning and subsequently charged with armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle, out of state fugitive, felon in possession and aggravated fleeing.

 

Dimuccio will also be booked on three outstanding warrants out of Colorado, one out of Kentucky and one out of San Juan County.

The reporting party was able to provide dispatch with the suspect’s direction of travel. Officers located the vehicle heading east on Apache and attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspect turned south on Auburn ignoring officers’ attempts to stop him. The suspect continued traveling south on Auburn until he crashed into a Farmington police unit at Auburn and Maple. The suspect was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The officer was not injured.  

 

The suspect, a 30-year-old male from Colorado, was taken into custody and transported to the police department for questioning. The suspect's name has not yet been released.

    Bystanders immediately called 911, prompting an emergency response from the Durango Police Department, La Plata County Sheriff's Office, and Durango Fire & Rescue. First Responders arrived within minutes and began life-saving measures on both individuals. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

  • Update: Driver Cited for Street Racing (video)

    The driver of the red Toyota Supra, 22-year-old Kalynn Kenworthy, was charged with racing on highways. Kenworthy has an extensive history of traffic violations, including citations for racing in August 2025 and in 2023, as well as more than seven speeding citations within the past four years, each averaging more than 15 mph over the posted speed limit. Additional charges are pending against the driver of the white passenger car.

  • Dineh Benally Pleads Guilty to Charges from Illegal Marijuana Farms

    According to court documents, from approximately January 2018 to November 2020, Benally, 48, and his co-conspirators established over 30 farms, covering more than 400 acres, on land obtained from Navajo Nation members. To fund this illegal enterprise, Benally and a co-conspirator traveled to California and created front companies to solicit Chinese investors. These investors were charged cash fees ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 for counterfeit cannabis cultivation licenses.

  • Three Injured in Farmington Shooting, Suspect Arrested

    It was discovered that several individuals had been injured. A juvenile sustained a graze wound, a 16-year-old was shot in the leg, and an 18-year-old was shot in the chest and transported to Albuquerque in critical condition. The vehicle involved in the crash is connected to the shooter. At this time, the shooter has been identified as an 18-year-old male.
