Kirtland Armed Robbers Sought

When the owner attempted to flee, he heard one gunshot and ran next door to Subway to call for help. The employees at Subway called 911 immediately and assisted the owner of Burnham Firework’s with cutting off the duct tape.

From the San Juan County Sheriff's Office:

At approximately 6pm last night, two armed suspects entered Burnham Firework’s in Kirtland and tied up the owner with duct tape and stole the cash register. After tying the owner’s hands behind his back, the suspects also stole his wallet and cell phone. When the owner attempted to flee, he heard one gunshot and ran next door to Subway to call for help. The employees at Subway called 911 immediately and assisted the owner of Burnham Firework’s with cutting off the duct tape. Witnesses observed two males exit the Firework business and head eastbound on US 64 in a silver, Toyota pickup truck. One suspect was described as a Native American or Hispanic male and the other as a white male. After reviewing the surveillance, the Native/Hispanic male appeared to have short hair with sunglasses on his forehead, and was last wearing a gray long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. The white male appeared to be wearing tan shorts, and a red flat bill ball cap that looked like it had UNM writing on the front. He was also wearing a long sleeve striped shirt, which appeared to be red/black/white. The suspect, John Hannon, the child’s father, was arrested on 2/9/26 on unrelated charges. He was served with the following charges while at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center:

Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside. Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
