*Update* Three Arrested for Bloomfield Shooting Death

The suspects have been identified as; •Mark Lindsey, a 43-year-old Bloomfield resident, is charged with Capital 1st Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder, a 2nd-degree felony. •Eric Crosby, a 33-year-old man from Durango, CO, is charged with Capital 1st Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Tampering with Evidence. •Michael Greer, a 28-year-old man from Durango, CO, is charged with Capital 1st Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Tampering with Evidence.

On the morning of April 30, 2020, a shooting occurred in the 900 blocks of West Maple in Bloomfield, NM. The gunshot victim, Bloomfield resident 51-year-old Leodis Williams, was pronounced dead on-scene. With assistance from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico State Police, Aztec Police Department, San Juan County Communications Authority, Town of Ignacio Police Department, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and Durango Police Department, officers with the Bloomfield Police Department apprehended the three suspects involved in the mid-morning homicide. The suspects have been identified as;

•Mark Lindsey, a 43-year-old Bloomfield resident, is charged with Capital 1st Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder, a 2nd-degree felony.

•Eric Crosby, a 33-year-old man from Durango, CO, is charged with Capital 1st Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Tampering with Evidence.

•Michael Greer, a 28-year-old man from Durango, CO, is charged with Capital 1st Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Tampering with Evidence.

Along with information provided by members of our community, we were able to bring closure and justice to the family of Mr. Williams and give residents peace of mind that the suspects were apprehended within hours of the murder.” – Deputy Chief Randon Matthews

The investigation into the murder of Leodis Williams is still on-going and more information will be released as it becomes available.

On the morning of April 30, 2020, a shooting occurred at the 900 blocks of West Maple in Bloomfield, NM. The gunshot victim was pronounced dead on-scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing with the assistance of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police.

“This is a tragic situation and we are grateful for the immediate response from our area law enforcement agencies. Help from the Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police will be instrumental in our investigation.” - Chief David Karst

Chief Karst is also asking everyone please avoid the area of West Maple Street until further notice.

    The rescue effort also received substantial financial support, from various donors. This outside support significantly reduced the financial impact on local resources and ensured the operation did not place a major burden on San Juan County taxpayers.

  • Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

    Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
