Suspects Arrested in Bloomfield Vandalism

On August 24, 2016 at approximately 5am, Bloomfield Police Officers were dispatched to the Multicultural Center on South 1st Street regarding a burglary and vandalism.

Officers found the library was severely vandalized and had been burglarized, numerous windows were broken out and several walls had items thrown completely through them. Additionally, fire extinguishers had been sprayed around the building. The building sustained tens of thousands of dollars in damage to both the interior and exterior of the building.

The initial investigation did produce a few leads. Officers and Detective were able to connect the evidence at the scene to two juvenile suspects. The juveniles were located and apprehended within a matter of hours. The juveniles were subsequently arrested and are in the custody of the Juvenile Probation Department at this time.

    Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
