On Oct. 7, around 7:00 p.m., officers responded within minutes to reports of gunfire in the 2400 block of North Arroyo Drive. Three individuals were found with gunshot wounds and were transported to Mercy Hospital by Durango Fire Protection District.

Preliminary investigation shows Shelby Campbell (32) and Emma Sims (32) were confronted by Shelby’s estranged husband, Bradley Campbell (32), who shot both women before turning the gun on himself. All remain in critical condition.

Chief Brice Current called this “a profoundly tragic time for our community” and urged anyone who witnesses or experiences possible domestic violence to report it immediately — your call could save a life.

DPD thanks Durango Fire & Rescue, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, CBI, and Mercy Hospital for their assistance.
