Wallace to Leave SJRMC

Wallace’s last day will be February 29, 2016. The Board of Directors has already begun a process to place an interim CEO on site to manage San Juan Regional Medical Center’s operations, and will continue to do so throughout the professional search for a permanent CEO.

From San Juan Regional Medical Center:

San Juan Regional Executive Board of Directors and President and CEO Rick Wallace, has elected not to renew Mr. Wallace’s employment agreement at the end of its June 30, 2016 term. The Board cited “the need to take a different direction in leadership” as the reason.

Charlene Scott, Chair of San Juan Regional Medical Center Board of Directors, states, “Rick came on board with San Juan Regional Medical Center in February 2010. Since that time healthcare has changed dramatically. With Rick’s leadership we have been able to navigate through those constant challenges successfully. He has advocated for year-to-year improvements in patient and employee safety, clinical quality, and patient satisfaction. The Board is grateful to Rick for his dedication to San Juan Regional Medical Center. Moving forward, the Board feels a change in leadership is necessary to continue to reach new levels of success in the San Juan County medical community.”

“It has been my honor and privilege to have served the patients, community, employees and physicians as San Juan Regional Medical Center CEO,” Wallace said. “I am extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve together and look forward to watching San Juan Regional Medical Center continue to grow into the future.” Wallace made no statement as to his future plans.

Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside. Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
